Training in the field of “Geography” is carried out at the departments of geoecology and environmental management and ocean geography of the Sevastopol branch of Moscow State University. The head of the educational program is Associate Professor, Ph.D. Ekaterina Sergeevna Kashirina.
The Department of Geoecology and Environmental Management was founded in 1999 on the initiative of corresponding member. RAS A.P. Kapitsa. From the founding of the department until 2020, the department was headed by a professor of the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University, Doctor of Geographical Sciences. E.I. Ignatov. Currently, the department is headed by a professor at the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University, Doctorff of Biology. Elena Ilyinichna Golubeva.
The Department of Ocean Geography was founded in 2001. The initiative to create the Department of Ocean Geography belongs to RAS Academician V.A. Ivanov, who headed it from its founding until 2019. Currently, the department is headed by Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Geology, Alexander Borisovich Polonsky.
Training in fundamental geographical disciplines, educational and practical training is carried out with the involvement of leading teachers of the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University.
After training, graduates can find employment in scientific, design, research, and educational institutions. They work in executive authorities in the field of land management, natural resource management, nature conservation, as well as in the tourism business.
Graduates continue their studies in the master's program of the biology, geography and geology faculties of Moscow State University, as well as in other universities (MIIGAIK, RUDN, Crimean Federal University) and scientific institutions (Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Water Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Marine Hydrophysical Institute, Institute of Natural-Technical Systems, Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas RAS).
