full-time
Duration of training:
2 years
Malkhazova Svetlana M.
Head of Education Program
Head of Department of Biogeography
Professor, Doctor of Geography
Program description
Professional training is aimed at mastering research methodology in all areas of biogeography and ecology, classical and new methods of analysis of various forms of biological diversity, guaranteeing effective practical activities in the field of conservation and rational use of biodiversity within the framework of the concept of sustainable development. The graduate is able to analyze and model geographic patterns of differentiation and distribution of biodiversity along environmental gradients.
The content of the master's program pays special attention to the development of practical recommendations for stabilizing the environmental situation based on representative and original research results of living, natural and natural-anthropogenic systems, conducting assessments and environmental assessments of various types of projects; theoretical knowledge and practical skills that allow solving professional problems in all areas of fundamental and applied biogeography; methodology and modern methods of studying biodiversity, from molecular biological to remote sensing methods; concepts, principles and approaches to the study of biodiversity as a systemic phenomenon at different levels of the structural organization of the biosphere; orientation in the systemic concept of biodiversity and the most important trends in its evolution; knowledge, skills and abilities in various applied areas of biogeography, including the management of protected natural areas.
