Environmental Geochemistry
Form of study:
full-time
Duration of training:
2 years
Head of the Department of
Environmental Geochemistry and
Soil Geography
Academician of the Russian
Academy of Sciences, professor
Program description
Professional training is aimed at mastering the theoretical foundations and principles of environmental geochemistry, the methodology of complex ecological and geochemical studies, modern analytical and experimental methods for studying landscape components, modern concepts of the science of soils, their properties, genesis, evolution, geography, principles of systematics and classification of soils, main approaches to land valuation.
The content of the master's program pays special attention to modern methods of interpreting research results, their cartographic representation, geoinformation analysis and processing of remote sensing data for analysis and modeling of the state of environmental components, methodological approaches to assessing the state of the environment, the fundamentals of environmental management and audit, assessment and forecast the state of ecosystems under technogenic influence, assessing the impact of environmental quality on public health.
Benefits of the program
Students enrolled in the master's program "Environmental Geochemistry" receive a broad ecological and geographical education, combined with special training in the field of environmental geochemistry. The Department of Landscape Geochemistry and Soil Geography has a wide range of chemical analytical equipment, which allows students to analyze the material composition and chemical properties of all landscape components.
Students take part in research and applied projects of the department, carried out within the framework of such current areas as “Ecogeochemistry of cities”, “Ecological-geochemical microworld”, “Geochemistry of the environment and human health”, “Ecological-geochemical study of river basins”, “Oil and the Environment”, “Space Activities and the Environment”, etc., the results of which they use in their master’s theses.
