Program description

Professional training of masters is aimed at mastering the theoretical foundations and principles of the formation of the hydrological and hydrochemical regime, the structure of waters and the course of natural processes in the seas and oceans, the methodology of complex oceanological research using modern equipment and computer systems, mathematical models for calculating water circulation, wind waves and storm surges , modern ideas about the ecosystem of the World Ocean, methods for solving problems of rational use of natural resources of the ocean and protection of the marine environment.

The content of the master's program pays special attention to modern methods of analysis of oceanographic data, mathematical modeling of oceanological processes, methodology of marine hydrological forecasts, physical processes occurring in the coastal zone of seas and oceans, basic methods for studying shelf zone ecosystems, the basics of searching, processing and analyzing satellite data for monitoring of the World Ocean.

Benefits of the program

An integrated approach to the study of the World Ocean

Thanks to an integrated approach, the program can train students with different basic education, who can find effective application of the knowledge gained in undergraduate studies in the branch of ocean science that is closest to them.

Practical skills in marine research

Much attention is paid to practical skills in marine research, which is achieved through the participation of students in scientific expeditions on research vessels of various organizations.
